Meet Gavin Kelly, the first ever recipient of our Keystone Trust scholarship.

At the end of 2019, we awarded our first ever scholarship through our partnership with Keystone Trust to an exceptional student, Gavin Kelly. Gavin became even more a part of the Ganellen family when he accepted an offer to join our team in Auckland as a cadet. Gavin has now been working with Ganellen for four months and is excelling in his new role.

After trying his hand in a few different industries, Gavin was ready to find the one to build his career in. His experience told him that he enjoyed a fast-paced work environment with exciting and varied tasks – construction was the perfect fit! He moved to Auckland from rural New Zealand to begin his studies and pursue his career in construction. Now in his second year, Gavin is studying a Bachelor or Construction at Massey University.

Gavin is steadily learning the ins and outs of project delivery and benefiting from a first-hand glimpse of life on site. “I’ve learnt a huge amount since starting at Ganellen.” says Gavin. “The biggest lesson I’ve learnt is the importance of communication, something I quickly realized I needed to improve!”

Gavin is working on Ganellen’s Alexandra Park project, delivering 128 apartments plus retail and basement levels in what will soon be one of Auckland’s most vibrant live-work-play precincts.

About Keystone Trust
Keystone Trust was built on the legacy of Graeme Bringans, a kiwi property developer who was a strong advocate of promoting opportunities for young people to enter the property industry – particularly those whose family, financial or other circumstances were such that their paths might be blocked.

Graeme’s dream was to establish a trust dedicated to helping such young people find their way into the industry. Sadly, Graeme died suddenly in February of 1994 at the young age of 48. In his honour, his widow Binty and a group of close friends and colleagues formed the Graeme Bringans Property Education Trust. Together the founding trustees raised the seed capital and put in place the structures which allowed the Trust to offer scholarships to students in a wide range of disciplines.

The Keystone scholarship program delivers some of the highest quality graduates who then take up varied careers in the property sector. Being part of the Keystone family, whether as a student, alumni member or funding partner gains high respect from industry peers.
